Coates is a thriving village with plenty going on, despite not having any shops or pubs of its own. Most of the farmland is owned by either the RAC or the Bathurst Estate.

Nearest Post Offices are Kemble (no queues) or Cirencester.

• Thames Head . Tetbury Road – toward Tetbury.
• Bell Inn and the Daneway, both in Sapperton.

Transport

There are buses to Cirencester and to Stroud, and the nearest train station is Kemble, which offers a regular high speed service to London, and connections via Swindon to Cardiff, Bristol and Taunton.

Church

There is always a welcome at St. Mathews Church, which is part of the benefice of Kemble, Sapperton, Tarlton, Frampton Mansell and Coates. The Rector Rev. Christopher Race lives in Kemble, and Rev. Canon Andrew Bowden lives at the Rectory in the village.
Mobile Services

On the 1st and 3rd Thursday’s of the month the Mobile Library calls 12-30p.m – 12.45p.m. On the same day at approximately the same time the Mobile Police Unit calls. Both stop by or near the Village War memorial.

Deliveries

Milk deliveries – are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays each week.
Hall’s Bakeries call twice a week – Mondays and Fridays.
